چکیده

Installing green roofs and walls in urban areas is suggested to supply multiple ecosystem services of benefit human health well-being. In a three-step literature review, we examined current knowledge on the link between public walls. A systematic search identified 69 scientific articles roofs/walls with discourse. These were categorized according type path covered (reduction temperature, air pollution, noise or environmental appraisal) coverage issues relevance for strategies planning, design/construction, maintenance Articles through structured complemented reviews (with no explicit rationale) covering reduction noise, pollution appraisal. Other relevant studies snowballing. Several provided guidelines optimizing effect supporting maximizing well-being benefits support pathways identified. included specifications about planning issues, recommended spatial allocation (locations where people live, sun-exposed maximum ambient temperature reduction) physical access needed Recommendations regarding design parameters substrate depth (deeper generally being better), plant choices (more diverse providing more services), (moist positively correlated heat reduction).

Green roofs in Mediterranean areas ¬タモ Survey and maintenance planning

This paper addresses green roof maintenance in Mediterranean areas. A field survey is presented, describing building and roof systems of eleven case studies in Portugal, anomalies, causes and maintenance actions. The most affected system components were the vegetation layer, followed by the drainage system, substrate and paths. All inspected green roofs have regular maintenance, mainly concerni...

Cost-Effectiveness of Green Roofs

Life-cycle assessment was used to evaluate the widespread installation of green roofs in a typical urban mixed-use neighborhood. Market prices of materials, construction, energy conservation, storm-water management, and greenhouse gas GHG emission reductions were used to evaluate private and social costs and benefits. Results suggest green roofs are currently not cost effective on a private cos...
